In Fernie there is plenty of fun for everyone, and that most definitely includes kids! When you know your kids are happy and taken care of you can enjoy your stay in the Canadian Rockies even more.

All the Kid-Friendly Equipment

There is no need to lug everything along. We have rental highchairs and playpens for the duration of your stay from Fernie Lodging Company. Simply book in advance through our front desk at 250.423.6878.

Toboggans, games, ping pong paddles (at Timberline Village only) and pool toys are also available through our front desks.

In winter, our Guest Services staff will personally provide third party baby sitting services for you, or you can choose from one of the FLC-approved companies listed below.

  • On-Mountain Childcare Services and Babysitters
  • Located at Fernie Alpine Resort, Resort Kids Daycare is located in the lower level of Cornerstone Lodge. Open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am-4:30 pm. Half day & full day childcare is available for children aged between 18 months to 6 years old.

Fernie Youth Center

Fernie Alpine Resort

Offers "Kids' Freeride Camps" during the summer.  Come and learn how to ride hard and safe with JF Des Lauriers and his team of expert coaches.  Ages: 10 yrs - 15 yrs. Call for dates and cost 250-423-4655.

Kids Never Stop in Fernie

See our Activities for all the fun that children can have on their own, with their family or on a guided trip. Fernie’s aquatic centre, evening sleigh rides, torch light parades, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, biking, river tubing, indoor and outdoor skateboard parks, snowshoeing, public skating and movies are just some of the action kids can get up to.

At Christmas, you'll find Santa skiing the slopes at Fernie Alpine Resort and during Griz Days, the Griz himself can be found hanging around the chalet at the base of the resort. During summer, the Fernie Fairy can be found doing face painting at the Sunday Rotary Park Market.

Fernie Parks

There are numerous Parks and Trails to explore. You can even reserve a park for an event by calling 250.423.2222.

  • Rotary Park – Children play structures, gazebo, grass areas, picnic sites. A perfect place to spend a few hours or hold an outdoor celebration.
  • Ridgemont Park – Incredible views of Fernie's mountain ranges, and a large field for activities and play structures for children.
  • 10 Avenue Park – The Annex's neighborhood park features play structures and plenty of grassy areas for relaxing.
  • Annex Park – This quiet setting has picnic areas, horseshoe pits, a nice canopy of trees, duck pond and large grass field.
  • Prentice Park – Located by the Fernie Hospital with two slow pitch fields, soccer field, running track, concession area – the play never stops.
  • Mount View Park – Situated beside the Elk River off the Airport subdivision, this is Fernie's largest park. Explore its beautiful forested areas, tennis courts, horseshoe pits, bocce courts, baseball fields, picnic tables and great mountainscapes.
  • Skate Park – Conveniently located just off Fernie's main street on 2nd Avenue, where skateboarders, inline skaters and bicyclists share.
