We have it all


No need to bring everything – highchairs and playpens can be rented for a one-time fee of $25 for the duration of your stay from Fernie Lodging Company. Simply book in advance through our front desk at (250) 423-6878. Toboggans, games, ping pong paddles (at Timberline Village only) and pool toys are available through our front desks.

In winter, our Guest Services staff will personally provide third party baby sitting services for you, or choose from one of the FLC-approved companies listed below.


Kids never stop in Fernie either


See our Activities section for all the fun that children can have on their own, with their family or on a guided trip to the aquatic centre, sleigh rides, torch light parades, white water rafting, horseback riding, biking, river tubing, indoor and outdoor skateboard parks, snowshoeing, public skating and movies.

At Christmas, you'll find Santa skiing the slopes at Fernie Alpine Resort and during Griz Days, the Griz himself can be found hanging around the chalet at the base of the Resort. During summer, the Fernie Fairy can be found doing face painting at the Sunday Rotary Park Market.


Fernie Parks


There are numerous Parks and Trails to explore. You can even reserve a park for an event by calling (250) 423-2222. Adventure awaits here:

Rotary Park – Children play structures, gazebo, grass areas, picnic sites. A perfect place to spend a few hours or hold an outdoor celebration.

Ridgemont Park – Incredible views of Fernie's mountain ranges, and a large field for activities and play structures for children.

10 Avenue Park – The Annex's neighborhood park features play structures and plenty of grassy areas for relaxing.

Annex Park – This quiet setting has picnic areas, horseshoe pits, a nice canopy of trees, duck pond and large grass field.

Prentice Park – Located by the Fernie Hospital with two slow pitch fields, soccer field, running track, concession area – the play never stops.

Mount View Park – Situated beside the Elk River off the Airport subdivision, this is Fernie's largest park. Explore its beautiful forested areas, tennis courts, horseshoe pits, bocci courts, baseball fields, picnic tables and great mountainscapes.

Skate Park – Conveniently located just off Fernie's main street on 2nd Avenue, where skateboarders, inline skaters and bicyclists share.


Child friendly for your kids' interests

Fernie Youth Center – Staff are happy to provide a list of eligible baby sitters for your convenience during your stay. Call (250) 423-4362.

Summer Kids Camps! – Fernie Wilderness Adventures are excited to offer summer camps from Monday to Friday through July and August. Children and youth programs. TREX program with activities to further leadership, teamwork, camping and survival skills. Experienced leaders teach rock climbing, whitewater rafting, etc. All have first aid certifications and child care certificates. Sibling discounts and daily drop in rates. Call (250) 423-XXXX.

Fernie Alpine Resort – Offers everything from daily Summer Adventure Camps, providing a safe environment for campers to gain an appreciation for nature, acquire new skills and build friendships. Little Adventures Day Camp is for ages 3-5, with outdoor safari, music and movement, groovy games, etc. Mountains of Adventure are for kids age 6-13, featuring tennis and sports, drama, orienteering, scavenger huts and Nature Bob.

Specialty camps and lessons include Leaders in Training for Teens, Martin Chabot Mountain Bike Camps for youth, and tennis lessons and programs taught by qualified instructors for all ages and ability levels, including Tennis Canada Kids Awards program. Full day events include Ready Paint Fire Ceramics, rafting trips and overnight camping for youth.

Winter programs for 2006 include Kids Night Out for children ages 6-12 years, includes theme nights, dinner and indoor/outdoor activities every Wednesday and Saturday.

Full and half day and hourly rates are offered daily at Resort Kids Childcare, located in the Cornerstone Lodge. Ages birth to 6 years welcome, however, 24 hours notice is required for any birth to 18 month reservation. The daycare is nut free; please provide diapers, formula and bottles, health insurance information, indoor shoes or slippers, allergy information, snacks, lunch and drinks (if not prearranged by the daycare). Childcare costs vary depending on age; late charges apply.

Ski lessons are also available for 3-5 year olds (no snowboarding for this age group). Children ages 6 and up can join the regular Snow School programs for ski or snowboard lessons, by the hour, group and private instruction. Rental equipment, including helmets, also available.
