‘Twas 2 weeks before Christmas and all through the valley
The Fernie-ites did scurry, as if in a rally
It was time to prepare for the onslaught of guests
Who arrive in our town donning down coats and vests.
Some travel from near and some from afar
Arriving by plane, shuttle bus or by car
They’ve packed up the kids, winter gear and warm clothes
Excited that Fernie’s the place that they chose.
And what to their wondering eyes should appear
Christmas lights, heaps of snow, locals spreading good cheer
For this is the place where dreams really come true
You can ski, you can sled, you can even snowshoe.
The skiing in Fernie is second to none
And snowboarding too is just as much fun!
With an annual snowfall that boggles the mind
Fernie Alpine Resort is so ably designed.
Now cross country skiing may be just the thing
That leaves our guests happy and senses tingling.
The valley is full of track-set and groomed trails,
Skinny skis are a challenge…epic bails…oh the tales!
Their eyes how they twinkle, their smiles oh how merry,
Their cheeks and their noses as red as a cherry.
They’ve had the best day in our quaint little town
Now it’s time to decide just where to chow down.
The restaurants in Fernie are really quite splendid
There’s sushi and steaks, even curry extended;
An eclectic assortment of pubs with good food
And many good beers which are locally brewed!
Now where are these guests settling in for the night?
Log cabins or condos, chalets– pure delight.
Executive homes that will sleep seventeen
With large living rooms for the gang to convene.
We still have some properties open for Christmas
I urge you to call me, let’s get down to business
For Fernie BC is the place you must visit
Just pick up the phone and call me this minute!
Now I’ll spring to my sleigh, give my team a big whistle
And away we will fly like the down of a thistle
But you’ll hear me exclaim as I drive out of sight,
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
Let us take care of your vacation – it’s what we do!
