Housekeeping Manager

Location:           Fernie Alpine Resort, BC

Job Status:       Permanent Full-Time (30-40 hours per week including weekends)

The cleanliness of our properties and facilities are critical to exceeding our guest and owner’s expectations at Fernie Lodging Company. As the company’s Housekeeping Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring all our properties are cleaned in a timely manner to our exceptional cleaning standards. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual, who is a permanent resident of Fernie and has previous supervisor/manager experience.

Key Duties:

  • Oversee all aspects of the operation of the housekeeping department

  • Hiring, training, and disciplining of up to 25 housekeeping staff

  • Scheduling staffing hours to meet cleaning demand

  • Checking inventory and ordering of housekeeping supplies / consumables

  • Ensure all staff follow occupational health and safety protocols

  • Planning each day and assigning jobs to the housekeeping team

  • Ensure our exceptional cleaning standards are maintained with thorough quality control and inspections of cleaning work

  • Maintaining and restocking housekeeping supply rooms, as well as other facilities

Job Requirements:

  • Previous supervisor or manager experience is a must

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team with successful results under pressure

  • Available to work flexible shifts, including weekends

  • Excellent attention to detail is mandatory

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to train/mentor staff

  • Organized and detail oriented with thorough follow up skills

  • Must be motivated, trustworthy and energetic

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and able to learn new software

Housekeeping Attendant – Spring/Summer Season – Staff Accommodation Available

Job Status:       Seasonal Part Time & Full Time (32-40 hours a week including weekends)

As a part of the housekeeping team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our standards are maintained and that properties are cleaned in a thorough and timely manner.

Salary:

  • $20.00/hour

  • Seasonal Bonus

  • On-mountain staff accommodation available (limited).

Key Duties:

  • Cleaning of all properties managed by Fernie Lodging Company in small teams

  • Taking pride in the quality of individual work and cleaning standards

  • Maintaining and restocking suite amenities and cleaning supplies

  • Follow checklists for housekeeping procedures

  • Ensure daily cleaning targets are met by working at speed while still showing attention to detail

  • Ensure that all damages are reported to a team leader or supervisor

  • Maintaining and restocking housekeeping and linen rooms, as well as other facilities

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience cleaning is an asset

  • Available to work flexible shifts, including weekends

  • Excellent attention to detail is mandatory

  • Ability to work well unsupervised and with others

  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Organized and detail oriented with thorough follow up skills

  • Must be motivated, trustworthy, and energetic

  • Must be available to work Sundays and Fridays and Holidays

Guest Services & Reservations Agent

Job Status:       Part-Time & Full-Time hours are available

As the face of Fernie Lodging Company, our frontline staff are essential to the success of our business.  Guest Services staff are often the first and last person our guests and owners communicate with.  This position contributes to Fernie Lodging Company’s success by ensuring exceptional service is provided to guests, owners and other team members.

Key Duties:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to our guests and owners

  • Resolve notable guest/owner challenges or report them to management in a timely fashion

  • Respond to concerns/compliments from guests and owners in a professional manner

  • Answer guest services and reservations calls

  • Prepare welcome package and follow up emails.

  • Reply to all guest email and phone queries in a professional, timely and courteous manner

  • Working closely with all departments and co-workers to ensure a streamlined guest experience

  • Ensuring our buildings and facilities are secure, clean and well-presented

  • Following emergency and safety procedures

  • Other duties and projects as assigned when required

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a customer service focused role

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure and able to multitask

  • Excellent command of the English language – written and verbal. Other languages an asset

  • Skilled and sensitive listener who understands customer needs and can solve issues promptly

  • Candidates must be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of applications

  • Available to work flexible shifts, including days, evenings and weekends

  • Basic knowledge of Fernie and surrounding area is an asset

  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Organized and detail oriented with thorough follow up skills

  • Willing to partake in jobs not defined under Guest Services & Reservations, if required

Salary:
