Fernie Lodging Company Office Hours
Fernie Lodging Company’s Guest Services team operate from our offices in the Timberline Lodges complex at Fernie Alpine Resort, 4559 Timberline Crescent from 9am to 5pm daily. During winter months, our Guest Services team hours will be 9am to 7pm daily.
You can reach the Guest Services team at any time of the year during office hours by dialing 250-423-6878, press “0” when prompt. We are happy to help with dining suggestions, booking local activities or other recommendations for things to do in the nearby area. There are also brochures, maps, tourist guides and magazines located in our office for your reference.
Check-in / Check-out Procedures
Check-in time is from 5pm for all properties.
We are introducing Contactless check-in
For your check-in, complete our Self Check-In link that will be sent to you the night prior to the date of your arrival. Once you have completed the self check-in process, check-in information will be sent to you on the morning of your arrival. You will be provided with instructions where to collect and access your keys from a secure lock box within the King Fir Building of the Timberline Lodge Complex.
Snow Creek Lodge guests will also collect keys from King Fir Building. With the check-in process, a damage deposit of $300 will be taken to the credit card provided.

If you are having problems retrieving your keys or locating your unit after office hours, please call 250-423-6878 and press 0 when prompted to reach our after hour emergency line.
Check-out time is 10am for all properties. Please be timely to allow us to prepare for our next incoming guests. Late check-outs may incur an additional half a night’s rental rate. For your check-out, complete our self check-out process that you will receive via email the day before your departure. Please make sure to complete the process when ready to leave. Keys must be left in the property. Prior to your departure all garbage must be removed, doors/windows closed, dirty dishes placed in the dishwasher and turned on. Please also check you have all of your belongings.
After Hours Emergency Contact
Should you need to reach the Guest Services team after hours (in the case of an emergency only) please dial 250-423-6878 and follow the voicemail prompts. Please only use this extension if the matter is urgent, otherwise we will be happy to help you first thing in the morning when we re-open.
Missing anything? Please check with the Guest Services team to see if it has been turned in to our lost property. We are able to mail you items left behind once you have departed, however postage charges will apply. Any unclaimed lost property will be donated to local charity after a period of one month.
Please be respectful of the vacation property you are renting. Should housekeeping have to spend extra time cleaning your property above and beyond a normal departure clean, you will be charged an additional cleaning fee. It is a requirement that you take all garbage with you and load/start the dishwasher prior to your departure. Failure to do this will result in an additional charge of $45 plus tax.
All of our rental properties are thoroughly inspected prior to your arrival. Should you notice any damage to the property or missing items upon check-in, please notify Guest Services immediately so we can rectify it for you. If upon inspection of the property after your departure we find damage to the property or missing items, we reserve the right to charge your credit card on file. Accidents do happen! Please notify us immediately if something does get broken or damaged.
Please do not move furniture within your rental property. This is to avoid damage to the furniture, walls, floor, etc.
Any lost or damaged metal keys will be charged at $25 plus tax to the credit card on file.
All guests are made aware of the maximum occupancy for each rental property at the time of booking. For your own safety, please do not exceed the maximum number of guests for your property. There are strict regulations around this and we reserve the right to evict with no refund if you are found to exceed the maximum occupancy of your rental property.
To ensure everyone has a quality night’s sleep we enforce quiet time between 11pm and 7am. Please respect your neighbors. If it becomes necessary for Fernie Lodging Company personnel to contact you due to continued disregard for quiet time, we reserve the right to evict you from your property with no refund. We will also not hesitate in contacting the police to assist if necessary.
All our properties are designated non-smoking. This includes private balconies, decks or patios. Please enjoy your break outside at least 3 meters from the property. Please also be respectful of the environment and dispose of your cigarette butts in the garbage bin. There will be a charge of $500 applied to the credit card on file if there is any trace of smoking found in your rental property or if cigarette butts are found on the deck/around the property.
If your rental property is equipped with a barbecue it will generally be connected to the main gas line of the property, however there are some exceptions to this. If your barbecue uses a propane tank, these will be filled for you prior to your arrival. If you require a refill, please contact Guest Services. In consideration of other users, please be sure to clean the grill with the wire brush provided when you are finished. Please be aware of local wildlife and do not leave food/garbage around the barbecue area.
Your property has been stocked with limited amounts of consumable items such as coffee, tea, sugar, sweeteners, salt, pepper, dishwasher tablets, tissues and spare toilet paper. This is to get you started during your vacation. Should you require additional quantities of these items during your stay, Guest Services will be happy to provide more at an additional charge. Please contact us for prices.
Most of our properties will have their own fireplace. The majority are either gas or electric fireplaces. Please do not change any settings on the fireplace, or turn off the pilot light. Most fireplaces require a simple flick of the labelled wall switch to light them, or are operated by a remote control. If your fireplace is a traditional wood-burning fireplace, there will be additional wood stored in the garage for use during your stay. Please be extremely careful around fireplaces and do not leave them on and unattended. Please contact Guest Services if you require assistance lighting your fireplace.
Garbage / Recycling
It is a requirement of your stay that remove all garbage from the property prior to your departure. If you are unsure of the nearest dumpster, please contact guest services for your most convenient location. Please do not leave garbage on the patio, deck or balcony as this will attract local wildlife.
As we are a provider of vacation rental properties and not a hotel, there is no daily housekeeping service offered during your stay. Your property will be thoroughly cleaned and inspected prior to your arrival and again after your departure. However, should you want additional cleaning services or fresh linens during your stay, please enquire with the Guest Services team. Additional charges will apply for any extra housekeeping services and these need to be arranged well ahead of time.
Free high-speed Wi-Fi is available in each property managed by Fernie Lodging Company. The network ID and password can usually be found on a magnet on the side of your fridge. Alternatively, this information will also be on a white sticker on top of the modem router. The modem is typically located under the TV in the living room.
Most of our properties come equipped with their own washer and dryer. If you need to purchase laundry detergent, you can do so at our office in King Fir Lodge.
Ski / Snowboard / Bike Storage
Please do not store your skis, snowboards or bikes inside your rental property. Please store these items in the garage of the property or keep them securely locked in your vehicle.
Ski Conditions & Weather Forecast

Each property is equipped with basic cable television through Shaw or a similar cable TV provider. As such, please use the Shaw remote control to view the guide, change channels and adjust volume.
Pushing the power button on the Shaw remote will turn on both the TV and the cable box. Sometimes these become out of sync. In this instance, turn the cable box on and manually push the power button on the TV to get them back in sync. The TV needs to be set to channel 3 to view cable channels.
To watch a DVD, select the appropriate input or source channel on the TV. When you have finished, please put the TV back on channel 3.
If you have tried the above tips and are still having trouble operating the cable television or DVD plyer, please contact Guest Services for additional troubleshooting assistance.

Long Distance Calling
The phones in most of our rental properties will not allow you to dial long distance or international numbers. Should you wish to place such calls, we recommend purchasing a long distance or international calling card from a grocery/convenience store.

Hours of Operation
For our properties that have their own private hot tubs, we encourage you to use the hot tub in a responsible manner. Please be mindful of noise levels and be respectful of your neighbors in the evenings.
There will be a cover over the surface of the water to save energy. Please carefully remove this cover before use and we ask that you return the cover over the water once you are done.
Your hot tub will be thoroughly inspected and tested by Fernie Lodging Company’s maintenance personnel prior to your arrival. Please note, at times hot tubs may be closed temporarily for scheduled or unscheduled maintenance. Should you require technical assistance with your hot tub, please contact Guest Services.
Rules / Safety
Please observe all our guidelines for safe hot tub use. We encourage you to shower prior to using this facility. Do not bring glass or alcoholic beverages into the hot tub under any circumstances. Running and diving into the hot tub are prohibited. Please ensure your children are always supervised and observe the time limits for being in the hot tub. You use these facilities at your own risk – Fernie Lodging Company will not be held liable for any accidents or injuries sustained.
The exact temperature of the water will vary slightly depending on the outside temperature, but is generally in the range of 37°C to 40°C (91°F to 104°F).
Each property with a hot tub is stocked with two towels per person – a colored or striped one for hot tub use, and a white towel for bathing.
There is so much to do in Fernie and the surrounding areas – from extreme outdoor adventures to relaxing indoor activities and everything in between! Our Guest Services Staff will be more than happy to help guide you through all the amazing sights and experiences in this mountain paradise.

Lussier Hot Springs
Hot Springs flow out of the mountainside into a series of beautiful green pools at the edge of the icy Lussier River.
- Undeveloped and a real treat to visit
- Park is always open and Rangers make regular patrols. A change room/toilet is located at the parking lot. No liquor, dogs or garbage are permitted at the springs, and bathers must wear bathing suits.
- Approx 90 min drive west on #3 highway, take Whiteswan Lake turn-off of the Hwy into Whiteswan Provincial Park.
Josephine Falls (Elkford) *
Elkford, “The Wilderness Capital of BC”. View the breathtaking Josephine Falls as they cascade 25 meters down a steep canyon carved by the Fording River. Josephine Falls is the destination of Elkford’s most popular trail, a moderate hike. Follow the “Forests, Falls and Lakes” trail to Josephine Falls then continue to one of the two alpine lakes on the circuit – Lost Lake and Lily Lake before returning.
- Approx 45 min drive. From Sparwood, take Highway 43 north to Elkford. At the 4 way stop turn right and drive the paved Greenhills Mine Road for 5.1 KM until you see a Forest, Falls and Lakes trails–this is your trailhead.

Kootenay Trout Hatchery
An extensive interpretive area that includes aquariums, educational models, and displays. You can watch the turtles, fish and water insects in the outdoor turtle pond, or relax on the beautifully groomed hatchery grounds.

Historic Fort Steele
A turn-of-the-century pioneer boomtown that provides a glimpse into life on the frontier. Kids will love the old-fashioned candy shop and the animals, adults can peruse the dozens of exhibit buildings, and anyone can try their luck at gold panning.
- Approx 1 hr drive. Just 16 km. (10 miles) northeast of Cranbrook, B.C., on Hwy 93/95.
Museum of Rail Travel
The Canadian Museum of Rail Travel is dedicated to the collection, restoration, and conservation of several train sets of different eras. Take tours and see audio-visual presentations.

Casino of the Rockies
On the Banks of the St. Mary River at the St. Eugene Mission Resort in Cranbrook. Try your luck at the slots, blackjack, roulette, or poker tables. Fully licensed restaurant & lounge.
- Approx 70 min drive. Take hwy 93/95 to Cranbrook, then take 95A towards Kimberly and follow signs to St. Eugene’s Mission Resort.
Bavarian Town of Kimberly
Visit this quaint little Bavarian themed town in the heart of the Rockies. Plenty of great shops, and European restaurants make the trip well worth the trip.

Kicking Horse Grizzly Bear Refuge
A research, education, and conservation center at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Dedicated to becoming a world leader in preserving both wildlife and flora at risk. The Refuge offers leading-edge interpretative programs that make learning about nature fun and fascinating. While you’re there, visit the gourmet Eagle’s Eye Restaurant. Nestled 7,700 feet high, in the cradle of three mountain ranges at the top of the gondola.

Waterton National Park (Cdn)
Part of the International Peace Park that joins with Glacier National Park in Montana. Fun for the whole family with walking/hiking, trails, ferry trips and plenty of other great outdoor adventures. Visit the town of Waterton and stroll the nice little shops and great eateries. The park is a haven for all sorts of Canadian Rockies wildlife.

Glacier National Park (USA)
Part of the International Peace Park that joins with Waterton National Park in Alberta. The park encompasses approx 1.4 million acres of wilderness and some of the most beautiful mountain scenery in the west. A combination of spectacular scenery, diverse flora and fauna, and relative isolation from major population centers have combined to make Glacier National Park the center of one of the largest and most intact ecosystems in North America. The whole family can enjoy the camping, hiking, biking, and boating. Great cross-country ski trails in the winter.

Going-to-the-Sun Road (USA) *
This 2-lane highway splits the northern and southern halves of Glacier National Park and crosses the Continental Divide at Logan Pass. Keep your eyes open for wildflowers and animals from this glacier habitat.
- Approx 2 hr drive (52 miles) from St. Mary to Apgar road open from early June to mid-October.

Whitefish, MT (USA)
Filled with galleries, gear shops, and gift stores. Country cafes mingle with gourmet restaurants. In the summer, you can also enjoy the surrounding mountain sun on the trails or one of the area golf courses. In winter, hit the slopes at Big Mountain.
- Approx 2 hr drive. Take Hwy #3 west to Elko then turn left on Hwy 93 south to US border crossing at Roosville. Follow US 93 south to Whitefish.
Kalispell, MT (USA)
Still very close to Glacier National Park, the largest city in the Flathead Valley. Lots of shopping and numerous restaurants to choose from.
- Approx 2.5 hr drive. Take Hwy #3 west to Elko then turn left on Hwy 93 south to US border crossing at Roosville. Follow US 93 south to Kalispell.
Silver Springs (Elko) *
Located by Elko, 20 minutes from Fernie. These three lakes are popular with the locals. There is a short hike required to get into the first lake where people sunbathe on large rocks and jump off of cliffs.
- Take Hwy west to Elko. Cross the bridge and take your 1st left. Travel Main St. and take a left at Alexander Ave, then a left at the 1st gravel road (River Rd.) down across the Elk River Bridge. Drive 3.3km along this dirt road. The pull-off will be between the 5km and 6km yellow markers. There will be a road to the right, enter and park there. Find a steep trail to the left and hike for approx 10 mins; you will know you are there when you see the lake and the cliffs.
The Elk Valley is one of the richest coal depositories in the world. Learn about the geology, history, and operations of present-day mines through a guided tour.

Interpretive center highlights the rich history of the Crowsnest Pass. Displays throughout the center feature the 1903 Frank Slide (rock avalanche), the CP Railway, early settlement, and early coal mining. View slide shows and video presentations several times a day. Pathways around the center provide spectacular views of the Frank Slide damage and surrounding areas.
- Hours vary depending on the time of year, but are generally 10am to 5pm.

Providing Outstanding Accommodations Since 1989
Fernie Lodging Company manages a wide selection of properties, predominantly on-mountain at Fernie Alpine Resort, including Timberline Lodges, Polar Peak Lodges, Snow Creek Lodge and Cabins, Bear Paw Lodges, Thunder Ridge Chalets and several Resort Homes.
Timberline Lodges was established in 1989 with the construction of Pine Lodge, which was soon followed by the construction of Spruce Lodge in 1990. Aspen Lodge was completed in the summer of 1998, the fourth building, King Fir Lodge, was completed in 2002 and as well as housing 16 suites, also includes a meeting room, a heated outdoor pool and hot tub, King Fir Spa & Wellness, administration and call center offices. A fifth building, Balsam Lodge, was completed in 2004, and the sixth addition, Juniper Lodge, was completed in 2008. Timberline Lodges offers a total of 168 suites, and among these buildings there are 6 hot tubs, a games room, a fitness room and ski lockers.
The building of Polar Peak Lodges commenced in 1997. They are nestled in the cedars, under the tunnel or across the road from the Timber Bowl Express quad chairlift. Polar Peak offers privacy, spacious floor plans, and ski to your door access. In 2008/09, the 7th phase of Polar Peak Lodges was completed. Future phases coming soon!
Snow Creek Lodge, one of our Signature Properties, was constructed in 1999 and provides the ultimate ski-in/ski-out location at Fernie Alpine Resort – situated right beside the Elk Quad chairlift. Snow Creek Lodge features 61 luxury studio, one and two bedroom suites, and many extra amenities such as an outdoor heated pool, 2 hot tubs, fitness room and underground parking. Several suites received upgrades during the Summer of 2009. The Snow Creek Cabins, three authentic Canadian log cabins which were added in 2001, are nestled in the woods beside Snow Creek Lodge. These charming, two bedrooms + loft cabins, with their slope side, ski-in/ski-out location, have already become some of Fernie’s most popular accommodations. Planning for additional cabins is currently underway.
Bear Paw Lodges on Highline Drive feature impressive architectural elements and incorporate lantern windows, heated flooring, gas fireplaces and cozy living spaces.
Thunder Ridge Chalets are three and four-bedroom ski-in/ski-out condominiums with their own private hot tubs and offer a floor plan to accommodate multiple families.
